ABOUT THE POSITION
The Institute of 3D Technology in Medicine (VI3D) is being established at VinUniversity on the foundation of the VinUni 3D Technology in Medicine Center (3D Lab), working closely with Vinmec Healthcare System. Since 2022 the 3D Lab has delivered more than 1,300 personalized cases for 18 hospitals, including patient-specific surgical instruments, anatomical models, cranial implant molds and customized titanium implants, under a quality management system certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485. 3D technology in medicine is listed among Vietnam‘s national strategic technologies, and VI3D is set to deliver national strategic technology tasks on personalized 3D-printed medical devices under the Ministry of Health for 2026–2030, spanning design, polymer and metal additive manufacturing, clinical trials, national standards and commercialization.
Reporting to the Head of Scientific Research and Training, the Research Assistant runs the day-to-day research of the Institute in one of two streams: clinical research, covering studies and trials of personalized 3D-printed devices; or technical research, covering accuracy, performance and anatomical studies that inform design, national standards and product dossiers. The Department has two (2) positions, one for each stream.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Study start-up and ethics: Prepare ethics submissions, site documents and investigator files; support site initiation.

• Enrolment and follow-up: Track enrolment, follow-up visits and patient-reported outcomes; ensure data completeness and resolve data queries with sites.

• Essential documents and safety: Maintain the trial master file in line with GCP; record and report adverse events and device deficiencies according to the protocol and regulations.

• Technical studies: Design and run technical studies, such as 3D deviation analysis of printed guides and models, mechanical test plans with accredited laboratories, and morphometric studies of Vietnamese anatomy from CT data.

• Research data: Maintain de-identified research databases and registries linking imaging, design, production and clinical outcome data to case identifiers.

• Reporting and publication: Prepare progress reports for Ministry of Health tasks and technical evidence for standards and product dossiers; support statistical analysis, abstracts and manuscripts.

• Training and coordination: Train site staff on study procedures; work with the design, simulation, polymer and metal labs and the quality team.
  KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

• EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor‘s degree in Medicine (MD), Preventive Medicine, Public Health, Pharmacy, Nursing, Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field; a Master‘s degree is an advantage.

• At least one (1) year of experience in clinical or technical research or as a research assistant; publications are an advantage.

• For the clinical stream: valid GCP certificate, or willingness to obtain one within the first three (3) months.

• KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of ICH-GCP and ISO 14155 (clinical stream); medical image processing and 3D metrology, e.g., 3D Slicer or Materialise Mimics (technical stream).

• Research methods and biostatistics (R, Python, SPSS or Stata).

• Scientific writing in English.

• Meticulous, organized and comfortable working with surgeons, engineers and hospital teams.
