Software Development Manager

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and continuously improve existing edtech web and mobile systems, monitoring performance, scalability, security, and uptime alongside new development work.
• Plan and manage the delivery of new software development projects from design through release, including scope, timelines, and resource allocation across concurrent projects and maintenance workload.
• Lead the development and delivery of AI-integrated products and features, from LLM-powered functionality to speech and content automation, working with the Lead Developer on the supporting AI infrastructure.
• Manage, coach, and develop a team of software developers, setting clear priorities and tracking output against agreed plans.
• Own release management: maintain a staged release process with version control, release scheduling, and rollback procedures, coordinating QA testing and UAT with stakeholders so environments and data are fully prepared and results are reliable.
• Establish and enforce testing and QA discipline, including written test procedures and completed pre-release checklists for every release.
• Own incident management: triage, resolve, and escalate production issues in line with department SLAs, with immediate escalation of downtime and customer-facing defects.
• Partner with the Lead Developer on backend architecture, database design, server infrastructure, and AI infrastructure decisions.
• Review code, provide technical guidance, and maintain coding standards, security, and performance best practices.
• Strengthen development processes over time, including CI/CD, automation, and technical documentation.
• Stay up to date with relevant technologies and industry trends, including AI-assisted development tools and AI-enabled product features.

Skill Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of web development technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP, SQL, NodeJS and React Native.
• Solid understanding of databases, APIs, and system integrations.
• Hands-on experience delivering AI-integrated features to production, such as LLM-powered functionality (via APIs or self-hosted models), speech recognition, or automated content generation.
• Version control and CI/CD: Git/GitHub, automated pipelines, and staged release environments.
• Testing and QA: test planning, regression testing, pre-release verification, and UAT coordination.
• People management: delegation, performance management, coaching, and prioritization.
• Familiarity with mobile app release cycles (iOS and Android app stores).
• Clear stakeholder communication and structured reporting to senior management.
• Strong problem-solving, organization, and technical documentation skills.

Languages:

• Vietnamese: fluency required (working language of the development team)
• English: minimum upper-intermediate proficiency, spoken and written. Equivalent to IELTS 6.0, TOEIC 800, or CEFR B2 or higher. Proficiency will be assessed at the interview.

Preferred Skills:

• Available to respond to critical production incidents outside standard business hours when required.
• Experience in education technology or digital learning platforms is a plus.
• Experience introducing AI-assisted development tools or AI-enabled product features is a plus.

Required Experience:

• 8+ years of experience in software development, including 3+ years managing a software development team.
• Proven track record of delivering new products or major features to production, not only maintaining existing systems.
• Experience implementing testing/QA processes and structured release management in a live production environment.
• Experience managing production incidents and working to SLAs in a customer-facing environment.
• Experience managing developers across web and mobile application delivery.

Required Education and qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree, or higher, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
